RealtyShares Surpasses $200 Million Raised Through Real Estate Crowdfunding

Raising capital has traditionally been a long process, but with Realtyshares’s curated online marketplace you can tap into our network of investors and put your money to work quickly.

The biggest challenge is ensuring the best possible sponsors so that the deals presented to investors have been vetted and will potentially offer a great return.

Both Investors and Sponsors can go to the website.

Sponsors must have a track record and clear certain benchmarks during the application process.

Investors must be accredited, and will go through a 30-day cooldown period after signing up.

  1. I found the podcast insightful. I appreciated the elaboration of definition of accredited investor, the investment time horizon for debt and equity clients, and talks on trends in peer-to-peer lending.

Earlier this year, I did some individual research on peer-to-peer lending for non-accredited investors. I read up on firms such Prosper and Lending Tree. The publish returns on both platforms seems a bit too good to be true and the minimum investment amount of $2500 at Prospect seemed low. I ended up holding off with the plan of doing additional research in several months. In that time span, some news articles mentioned some improper business procedures at prosper and lending tree.

There is certainly merit for peer-to-peer format for accredited investors/borrowers but I am unconvinced at the moment on if the existing platforms are adequately regulated yet and have sufficient financial disclosures for non-accredited people.
